2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1

Get ready for the excitement of a new NHL® season with the release of 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 1! This year’s product features a revamp of the previous configuration, as well as 4 brand new parallels, for a more compelling collecting experience!  

The 2023-24 flagship series products will now deliver 12 cards per pack (3 inserts per pack) and 12 packs per box. The number of Young Guns® per hobby box will remain at 6 while the ratio they fall will now be 1:2 packs (1:4 previously). The four new base set parallels added this year are: Outburst Silver, Deluxe (#’d to 250), Outburst Red (#’d to 25), and Outburst Gold (#’d 1-of-1). This means the Outburst Gold will be the FIRST ever 1-of-1 Young Guns® card! 

Key Young Guns to Be on The Lookout For 

The Young Guns® checklist is always filled with promising prospects and this year is no different.  

Brock Faber, D, Minnesota Wild®, Age: 21 

The Minnesota native was drafted 45th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft™ by the Los Angeles Kings before being traded to the Minnesota Wild in 2022. The 6’1 defenseman was a NCAA (West) First Team All-American in 2023 and appeared in 2 games for the Wild.

Luke Hughes, D, New Jersey Devils®, Age: 20 

The highly touted 6’2 defenseman was selected 4th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft™. He averaged over a point per game in his two seasons at Michigan before signing with the Devils. Luke’s family pedigree, offensive skills from the blue line, and potential to become a cornerstone player for the Devils, will make his Young Guns card a great addition to any collection.  

Marco Kasper, F, Detroit Red Wings®, Age: 19 

The Austrian native was drafted 8th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft™ by the Detroit Redwings. Following the completion of 2022-23 season in the Swedish Hockey League, where he tallied 8 goals and 23 points in 52 games, the 6’1 forward made his NHL debut against Toronto in a 5-2 victory.

Matthew Knies, F, Toronto Maple Leafs®, Age: 21

The University of Minnesota product made a big splash for the Maple Leafs in last year’s playoffs as he collected 1 goal and 3 assists in just 7 games. The 2021 2nd round pick looks to build on that great first impression as he goes into his first full NHL season.

Devon Levi, G, Buffalo Sabres®, Age: 21 

Another former 7th round pick, Levi has earned himself a solid reputation from his success with Team Canada and Northeastern University. The 2-time NCAA (East) First Team All-American made seven appearances for the Sabres last season going 5-2-0 with a .905 save percentage.  

Dustin Wolf, G, Calgary Flames®, Age: 22 

A talented goaltender in the Calgary Flames organization, known for his exceptional skills in the crease, is looking like a diamond in the rough from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft™ after he was drafted in the 7th round. In 2023, Wolf was named to his second consecutive AHL First All-Star Team while also winning the Les Cunningham Award for being the AHL MVP.

What Will Collectors Find in Upper Deck Series 1? 

Collectors will also find a mix of familiar and new inserts in 2023-24 UD Series 1. New inserts this year include 200’ x 85’ (1:6), Special Edition (1:5), Star Zone (1:7), Star Surge (1:7), Stat Box Fillers (1:6), and Teacher’s Pet (1:5). Returning in Series 1 are Blue Dazzlers (1:12), Pink Dazzlers (1:144), Honor Roll (1:3), Debut Dates (1:6), Rookie Retrospective (1:8), UD Portraits (1:7), and the Population Count, now printed on acetate stock with tiered print runs from 1,000 to as low as 1.
