If you are new to collecting Overwatch League cards on Upper Deck e-Pack®, hopefully you have read our blog post with an introduction to the site. You can also view the TUTORIALS page if you are interested in a quick start. You may be a bit familiar with trading if you have been working towards and redeeming achievements, but perhaps you need some more in-depth assistance.

Locking Cards

Before we get started, if you have items you don’t want to be put into trades, you’ll want to lock them. When you go to your collection and select the card you would like to keep from trades, you can click the little Lock icon that is next to it. You also have the ability to lock all items by clicking the “Lock All” button, which looks like a lock on the bar above the top row of cards. Similarly, next to it is the “Unlock All” button which looks like an unlocked lock, which you can use to unlock all of your items. If you wish to unlock an individual item, you can utilize the Unlock icon that will be next to an individual card when you click on it.

Wish List

It is also helpful to put items on your wish list to let other collectors know which cards you are looking for. You can also look at the wish list of the person you wish to trade with and offer something they want that you have. If you would like to add items to your wish list, you can go to the Marketplace and search for the cards you’d like to add. To the left of the card, you will see a small heart. Just click the heart and the card will be added to your wish list. For removing items from your wish list, you will want to go to Collect, and then Wish List. You can then click the heart icon next to the card you wish to remove, and it will be taken off of your wish list.

Trading

Now that you have prepared yourself for trading, it is time to decide how you are going to start. If you find someone else with the card you are looking for, you can go to the trades. You will to want to head over to the “Trade” tab and click “Go To Marketplace” to look for cards first, or “Start a New Trade” to go into the trade screen. If you are on the trade screen, you will click “Click Here To Add Items To Trade.” On the left side you can find the filters to narrow down which card or cards you are looking for. If you know the card you are looking for, you can type that in the search bar. Otherwise, it will be easiest to start with “Genre,” where there are only nine options. From there, you should be able to narrow it down by “product,” “team” (if a sports card), and “attributes” (autograph, memorabilia, unredeemed, etc).

Now, you have a grouping of cards to choose from. When you click on one, you will have a page of that card with the username of the owner underneath. If you click on their username, you will be taken to their profile. On a user’s profile, you will have the option to add them as a friend, message them, or start a trade. You will also be able to see their collection, wish list, latest forum posts, as well as how many achievements, badges, and avatars they have earned. Remember that looking at someone’s wish list is a great way to determine which cards they might be interested in trading for.

Trading itself can be trial and error. You can start the trade by adding the item(s) you would like from them, and then adding item(s) you will offer. You could also send the trade without adding items from your own collection, allowing the other party to send back a counter-offer and add items from your collection. This is when locking favorite cards comes in handy to make sure they don’t add those.

Trades will be active for 24 hours, and that time will be reset with each counter-offer. At the top of the page, you can see the little bell that will occasionally have a little red dot for notifications. If someone sends you a trade offer, or responds to one you have sent, you will get a notification. You will also get a notification for news and received messages. It is always good to take a look at the little bell in case you get any other offers or news.

If you click on a trade that you have sent but the other person hasn’t responded, you can still edit that trade. You will find the “Edit Trade” button, and then make edits in the same manner as when creating a trade. Then you can click on “Submit” to send the edited trade. However, if someone’s sent you a trade you would like to edit, you can counter the trade with a different offer by using the “Counter” button. There will then be a “Remove” button next to items if you would like to remove anything; or you can use “Add More Items to Trade” and search for what you would like to add. When you have finished adding or removing, you can click “Submit Trade.” As long as the other party hasn’t accepted the trade, you can use the “Cancel” button if you decide not to go through with the trade. And of course, you can always click the “Decline” button if you do not want to do a trade that was sent to you.

You also have the handy ability to chat about the trade after it has been submitted. You will click on the trade and then scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will find the box where you can enter your message and then click “Send Message” and communicate that way.

“Basically, communicate! If the person you’re wanting to trade with doesn’t have anything on their wish list, or it would possibly be an uneven trade, don’t be afraid to send an open trade. You put what you want, don’t add anything to give, but then use the message feature within the trade to communicate and say that you’re interested and for them to look through your collection to see what they might want. I’m way more willing to respond to/work with an open trade than someone who just sends a ton of base cards for one ‘good’ thing.” – Chelsea H.
