Today’s preview is brought to you by co-founder of Super Awesome Games and co-designer of Vs. System® 2PCG®, Danny Mandel.
In every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.
Welcome back to the Vs System 2PCG: The Buffy Battles!
Last week we took a look at the new Vampire keyword which gives those creatures of the night extra health via Vitality counters. Today we’re going to look at the Slayer, herself.
Buffy introduces the new Slayer keyword. When she wounds an Evil supporting character, you can remove it from the game. It doesn’t matter how many vitality counters or health it has, a stake to the heart can turn the toughest vampire to dust.
Of course, Slayer only works on supporting characters. Or does it?
Buffy’s She Saved the World. A Lot. allows her to Slay an Evil main character. If she does and it’s the last enemy main character in play, you’ll win immediately! But if something goes wrong (or there are other enemy main characters left), Buffy will get KO’d at the end of the turn.
Buffy is a strong main character and she has an equally strong supporting character:
But whichever version of Buffy you choose to play, she’s even stronger with her Watcher by her side.
And let’s not forget she’s the chosen one…
She’s also a great big sister:
In the show, Buffy is an only child… until a group of monks transform a mystical object called The Key into a human form made from Buffy’s essence and then alter the memories of everyone: Boom! Instant little sister!
In the game, Dawn can’t start in a deck. Instead, if Buffy is your main character or a supporting character in your deck, you get to have a Key pile which includes four copies of Dawn. As long as Buffy is on your side, you can recruit Dawn from your Key pile.
When an enemy player makes their first attack each turn, they must choose an attacker(s) that can attack Dawn and they must choose Dawn as the defender.
Finally, we’ll take a look at the love of Buffy’s life.
We hope you enjoyed today’s preview. Come back next time for a look at the other monsters facing Buffy, including what happens when Angel has a moment of true happiness.
