Dark Legacy: The Rising is a competitive card game where players can choose factions, build their own decks, and roll dice to try and cast bigger and more powerful spells than their opponents! In Dark Legacy: The Rising players take on the role of powerful heroes that belong to one of six warring factions on the planet Titan, which is divided into city-states. The Kaiser, the leader of the Chaos faction, is a powerful battlemage who has intimidated the other regions with his violence and brutality.
Dark Legacy: The Rising will launch with three Starter Packs that each contains two decks allowing you to play against your friends right out of a single box. Each deck focuses on a single faction, which focuses on different playstyle to the game. But what makes Dark Legacy: The Rising truly stand out is its commitment to roleplaying-like mechanics with the inclusion of a d20.
During your turn, players will choose to either Attack or Cast. By Casting, players will roll their d20 and add a number of Casting Points to their pool based on the roll. Certain cards and mechanics will allow players to keep their Casting Points between turns, but otherwise, the pool is emptied at the beginning of their next turn. Players must build their decks carefully and concisely to solidify their place in battle!
As you play with your friends, you may gain experience between games and potentially level up! Leveling up makes it easier for you to Cast some spells while giving you access to better Spells, Weapons, and Armors. You may even gain access to specific benefits or powers as you level up. Each Starter Pack will take you up to Level 5, but as the game evolves and grows, you’ll be able to see cards that will take you all the way to level 10!
Over the next several weeks, we’ll be diving into more mechanics that are in Dark Legacy: The Rising and some of the lore in the world as well. Next time we’ll be looking at the six different factions and how they work together, or fight against each other. Dark Legacy: The Rising will be available at your favorite local game store this summer!
