Down below the Earth, Mephisto watches as Johnny Blaze roams the Earth on his flaming motorcycle. After making a deal to save his foster-father, Johnny believed he would lose his soul – instead his love, Roxanne, drove Mephisto away. Johnny found himself bound to the supernatural being Zarathos, which transformed him into the leather-clad Ghost Rider. To settle the debt wrought by the being, Zarathos would take control when evil was around to ensure that the corrupt were returned to Mephisto.
Johnny Blaze was the original Ghost Rider, first appearing in Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972. Only a year later he got his own self-titled run; Ghost Rider, which wrapped up in 1983 when Zarathos fled Blaze’s body to pursue the villain Centurious. Johnny appeared several times after that and even got another self-titled run in 2006.
October’s Halloween inspired fine art print by Jason Shawn Alexander brings the terrifying Spirit of Vengeance to life with his iconic leather jacket, chains, and blazing skull. Each of the 350 hand numbered Upper Deck Authenticated limited edition prints has been signed by the artist.
The standard edition print features the Ghost Rider lurking in the shadows, surrounded by a black and blue ink splatter. The variant edition print illuminates the Brimstone Biker as he is consumed by the flames of Hellfire, ready to deliver the next wicked soul to Mephisto. You can check out this and other prints at the Upper Deck Store.
