The Seattle Kraken’s Everett Fitzhugh makes history yet again! Fitzhugh is the first black full-time radio play-by-play announcer in the NHL® and is receiving his first officially licensed Upper Deck trading card.
“This card is such a special honor. As someone who collected thousands of cards as a kid, I never thought this was something possible for me.”
The limited-edition Heroic Inspirations card is set to be released and distributed for free at two upcoming events – March 12th at Skyway Park and on March 18th at the United by Hockey truck, which will be present at the Climate Pledge Arena ahead of the Oilers vs. Kraken game. Please see additional information below.
Fitzhugh has had a remarkable career as a broadcaster. He was the voice of the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and worked as a radio host and producer for ESPN Radio before joining the Seattle Kraken. His passion for hockey and his exceptional talent as a broadcaster have earned him several accolades and awards, making him one of the most respected and admired voices in the industry. Through all his accomplishments, Fitzhugh remains a family man and an ambassador for the team in the community. He continues to advocate for representation with hopes of a brighter and more inclusive future.
“It’s my hope that someone sees this and feels like they have a place within our game. Hockey is a special place desperately in need of diverse faces and backgrounds.”
