All things come with a price. Be they the ambitions of a Mad Titan, or the hopes of humanity resting on the shoulders of a handful of heroes. Such is the state of the things in both Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, and so they are in Legendary®: Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga.
Last time we were granted a fleeting glimpse at Phasing, along with the combo-heavy nature of Multiclass Cards. This time around there’s some give to pair with the take thanks to a new keyword coming to the game. “There was no other way.” indeed.
Sacrifice
Some Avengers had to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of defeating Thanos. That commitment, and the weight it carries, comes into play thanks to this keyword. When a card with Sacrifice is played and other conditions are met (such as playing a [Ranged] card first), you may KO that card to use its Sacrifice ability.
Sacrificing a card this way is always optional: you don’t have to use the ability and KO the card even if you met its prerequisites. The decision also has to be made as soon as you play the card – you cannot wait to do so later during your turn.
If you do Sacrifice, you’ll still get all , , and other abilities from the card. It was also still “played this turn” for the sake of other abilities. That said, it’s no longer “one of your Heroes” or “a Hero you have” since it’s gone to the KO pile.
Themes of sacrifice also find their way into other cards in this expansion, forcing players to make those choices as they come and to carry the consequences.
We’ve given all we can this time, but be on the lookout for more Legendary®: Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga reveals soon. Things will work out with this next one, because I don’t know what they’re going to do if they don’t…

A 1 cost sacrifice card is very appealing!
