Greetings faithful Vs. System 2PCG fans! Welcome to our next look at the new Symbiotes Arc for the game. The first 55-card Issue, Lethal Protectors, focused on Venom and some other symbiotes. It introduced a new Evil team, the Symbiotes (). The second Issue, which we will start to look at today, takes a look at Carnage and “friends” (more Symbiotes). The final Issue involves some Spider-Friends who are involved with symbiotes.
Before we look at the cards, a quick design note about symbiotes, hosts, and AKA. From the rules:
AKA is used quite a bit in the Arc, as the symbiotes change hosts often. And it can be confusing with symbiotes in particular, as they are sentient beings as well. For example, the character Venom could have the AKA of every other hero and villain who ever used the same symbiote, like Agent Venom. Then Agent Venom would need AKA Venom as well. But we’ve already made Venoms and Agent Venoms without these AKAs. Our solution was to focus on the hosts, so any character with Eddie Brock as its host has AKA Venom.
Let’s paint the town red!
Healing and dealing!
But is this plot twist enough to make you join forces with a being like Carnage?
Note that his Paint the Whole World Red power, like all -1/-1 counter effects, won’t affect face-down enemy characters with +1/+1 counters from things like Symbiosis.
Now here’s where it all started!
Carnage, like Venom, is happy with any suitable host!
But Carnage isn’t all rainbows and unicorns…
As a reminder, here’s the Lord of the Abyss:
But enough of these peripheral cards. Let’s look at the main man!
We hope you’ve enjoyed our very first look at the Maximum Carnage Issue of the Symbiotes Arc! Join us next time for a real hoot of a preview!
Carnage will reign when Vs. System 2PCG: Maximum Carnage unleashes in stores November 17th.
