From time to time we like to shine a spotlight on our valued collectors on the Upper Deck Blog to showcase their collections. One fan we found through social media postings has an impressive collection of Ultimate Collection autograph Masterpieces cards. Here’s Wade’s story:

“Starting in 2008-09 I fell in love with the Upper Deck NHL® Masterpieces set.  In particular I chased the Messier Brushstrokes set and was able to complete the rainbow set!

“I like look of premium painted hockey cards. When the Ultimate Collection came out I really liked the autograph Masterpieces set and I felt the need to chase that as well. Initially it was just for the Mark Messier autograph version, but I just kept the collection going.

‘It has been a real love affair putting that set together. I need thanks to a lot of fellow collectors for helping me build this set, mainly friends from Hobby Insider forums.

‘I feel very fortunate to have built this set so fast (in less than 3 years) because I’ve only seen one or two copies for sale of many of the top autos in this set. That can be a tricky part of chasing a popular set; many go right into private collections and you don’t see them again.

‘I’m excited to add to this set when 2018-19 NHL® Ultimate Collection releases! There will be 38 new autograph Masterpieces cards in that set so I’ll have my work cut out for me. If you crack any of them, please hit me up on Twitter and maybe we can work a trade!”

The 2018-19 NHL Ultimate Collection Signature Masterpieces set builds on the legacy of this premium insert series.
