Providing an entertainment experience that lasts beyond opening packs of Upper Deck is critical to the company’s success. We work hard to engage fans and come up with unique ways to make them feel like part of the family. We saw this recently with a Father’s Day promotion we ran where fans could score the opportunity to have themselves added in the background to classic Upper Deck NHL® cards. We were surprised with how many submissions we had which made picking fans to be in these cards tricky.
After we got the word out to them, we then moved to have our prepress team crop the photos so they looked natural in the images. We loved how they came out. Take a look and see if you can spot the added fans!
One of the entries was rather emotional. Carrie Midgley shared the following with her submission:
“This is for my two boys (ages 2 and 5) who lost their dad in a car accident on May 17th. They are all big NJ Devils fans and loved bonding over the game. It would mean so much to my boys to have this as a keepsake of the good memories with their dad.”
We knew we had to do something to make Father’s Day a little easier for these kids. We also loved the opportunity to create something special for them. The obvious challenge was getting both boys in the picture and our prepress team was able to make it look like the older boy was sitting on his father’s lap in the stands.
They were very excited with how it came out.
We loved hearing this as well from their mom:
At first my five year old said “Cool Nico poster” then I told him to look at who else was there. He started jumping up and down yelling “My Daddy he’s holding us”
We loved making the day special for these great families and we look forward to running more engaging promotions that our fans will love in the future. Stay tuned! If you liked this story, check out what we did with fans around Valentine’s Day!
