At Gen Con in Indianapolis, IN this August we are going to try something new with Vs. System® 2PCG®; a 3v3 Team Match.

The 3v3 Team Match is where each player on a three person team will be assigned seat A, B, or C at registration and will keep the same seat throughout the tournament. Each round a player will play the corresponding opponent. A plays A, B plays B and C plays C. The tournament format will be Swiss with number of rounds determined by participation. Each round the team that scores the most game wins, wins the match. Think of this as a best of three where all three games are played at the same time, with six different decks.

This 3v3 Team Match will be using unified deck construction rules. This means the number of cards that can be played is limited to what could be played in a single deck. In other words, most cards are limited to four, and that limit applies to all three decks. If a card is limited to one, it can only appear in ONE deck. Cards with the Legion keyword are limited to eight across all three decks. 

Here are some examples:

1. Nullifier is One of a Kind so a team can only have one copy of this card. If Player A has it in his deck, Player B and Player C can’t include it in theirs. 
2. Punisher is a normal 4-of card so a team can only have four copies total of him among all three decks. If Player A has two copies in her deck and Player B has one copy, player C can only have one copy. 
3. Adolescent Xenomorph has Legion so you can normally include 8 copies in your deck. This means the team can include 8 copies total among all three decks. 

This also means a given Main Character can only appear ONCE in any deck or side deck of any team mate (you can’t use Kingpin‘s Underworld Boss ability if your teammate started with Kingpin as their Main Character). The only exception is basic locations. Each deck can have up to four of each location. Team locations are still limited to four across all three decks.

Since each individual game is completely separate from each other, Loyalty and MCU cards are only restricted in individual player decks, not to the teams. Player A can run an Underworld Loyalty deck even if a teammate is using cards from a different team.  Also, Player B can use a MCU deck even if their teammates are using cards from the Illustrated Universe.
