Card shops, sports collectible shows and online collecting message boards have been buzzing with fans talking about Upper Deck’s latest high-end release; 2010-11 NHL The Cup. It has been a lot of fun for us to see fans interacting and having such a positive experience with this product. Unfortunately, 2010-11 NHL The Cup is not a product that is in every customer’s price range with individual packs selling for over $300. What’s more, there is a very limited amount of the product in the market, so even if you do have the money, it can be difficult to track down.
Internally we do not get very much of this product to use for samples, but we were able to secure one pack to use for a promotion with our fans. We have heard how much collectors would love the opportunity to open a pack of this product, but how would we go about rewarding something so in demand to just one fan? We wanted to come up with a promotion that would be unique and fun for our loyal customers. Remember those commercials from Klondike where they asked the famous question, “What would you do for a Klondike bar?” Well that is what we are asking our fans now, “What would you do for a pack of The Cup?”
Take a little time and think about it. It can be heartfelt and philanthropic. It can be juvenile and funny. What we are really looking for is something creative, because let’s face it, these packs are not easy to come by so whoever we award it to should have to do something different. Leave what you are willing to do for a pack of Upper Deck’s 2010-11 NHL The Cup product in the comment section below, just please keep it clean.
We will pick our top five favorites from these comments on Friday afternoon and then allow fans to vote on which comment they like the most through the Upper Deck Facebook page for a short period. The comment with the most amount of “likes” will be selected to receive the pack if they accomplish the task they agreed to. After the winner completes the task they agreed to we will then award them a pack of The Cup. So we’ve got to ask you, “What would you do for a pack of The Cup?”

I would take the proceeds from the pack and put it towards a new pitching machine for my high school baseball program. Thanks!
I would watch Tyra for an entire hour while my ex-wife nags me!
I will cheer for the Maple Leafs, and being a Senators fan we all know how rough that would be on someone. It’s hard enough on Leaf fans, let alone fans of other teams
I would take a bite out of an onion as if it were an apple.
I would walk around in a T-Shirt and Shorts in a Canadian Winter!!!
I am willing to shave my face and hair for a pack of The Cup. For those who know me… I don’t shave my face, and I am willing to do it for a pack of The Cup.

What would I do for a tin of the cup?
I would eat a piece of gum off the street!! No joke 😀
Awesome contest Upper Deck. Thanks for the opportunity.
I would set all my excitement aside and let my 10 year old daughter, who is also a collector, open her very first pack of THE CUP !! All our collecting that we have ever done to date has been for her future education.
I would take a tour of the Panini and the ITG headquarters while wearing an Upper Deck shirt and opening Upper Deck product.
I would melt down the tin to make a custom fit helmet for Sid.
(yes, Im a Pens fan)
I would eat raw meat then with the bones go to a peta meeting and most likely gonna get murderd
(Juan Valdez on facebook)
I would take an open ice check from Scott Stevens for a pack of The Cup.
I would build a time machine, go back in time, fly to Russia, hire a translator, and make sure Lokomotiv Yaroslavl doesn’t get on their flight. Then I’d buy them a new airplane and get them on their way. Win-Win for everyone!
Thanks UD!

I would post an Upper Deck rookie, game used or auto card a day for one month for sale on Ebay (including most if not all of the contents of the prize pack of The Cup) and donate all of the proceeds to a charity in Upper Deck’s honor, and I would advertise it on all of the trading forums that I belong to as well I would create a video of the box break for YouTube and advertise there as well!
Best of luck to everyone!
I would ‘sing’ Friday by Rebecca Black for you all to hear.
What would I do for a pack of the cup? Well….anything! I know i am not going to win so you tell me what to do and I will do it for a pack of the cup!
What would I do for a tin of the Cup? I would hold Crosby out of the NHL, and tell him not to sign any cards until I get said tin, and then if satisfied, maybe let him back on the ice.
I don’t know if collecting and education are related in anyway… but that’s not my call. I do both but not so one can fund the other.
I would take all of the Upper deck sets I have been collecting (more than 25,000 cards and donate them to local organizations that work with children. I would do this to spark a passion for collecting sports cards in the next generation.
I would be the puck for an NHL game just for the chance at a pack of The Cup!
I would donate the highest bidding card to sick kids hospital cause I had a cousin that was once sick and have seen what families go through.
I would open the pack and put them in my bike spokes and play school yard games with them!
Eat gum off the street? I would go even more gross, and eat gum from a pack of Topps!
Seriously, would bust the pack with my son and his youth team, with the caveat that any monster inserts are sold to fund ice fees, or donate to scholarship fund, for one of their teammates who’s family is in a tough situation.
I would cover the dollar amount for a pack in scholarships for kids to be able to play in the basketball league this winter at our church. We usually have a good amount of kids that their folks cannot afford for them to play so we provide assistance. With the economy the way it is I expect there to be more this year so I would give the value of a pack to the scholarship fund.
I will go to the Leafs home opener in October in a Habs jersey and face paint and cheer ole ole ole every sensible time possible. (I’m a diehard Leafs fan). Cheers
I would take a Nutshot from a slapshot by Eric Staal!
I would keep any Canadiens cards I pulled and then randomly give all the other cards from the free pack of the Cup to people who “liked” my post and helped me win the tin. If no Canadiens card I would have to keep one other as a memento of winning, share the wealth I say.
I would take a slap shot to the face from Zedno Chara for a pack of The Cup.
With all the tragedy surrounding the NHL, I was deeply impacted by the loss of Wade Belak. He meant so much to everyone here in the Nashville Community…
I would take some cards from my Wade Belak collection and place them on a canvas to form a 3 (his number). I’d then take the artwork to the Prdators’ preseason games and have fans sign their names onto the canvas. After the project is complete, I would present the piece to his widow Jennifer and their two children, Andie & Alex.
I think for a cup box i could shave all the left side of my haire and face take a picture and use it as profile pic for a month!lol
dont try me!:D
yvon.
I would track you guys down and give each person responsible for this give away a HUGE hug!
I would dress the tin up like a small child and love and cherish it like one of my own. I would name it Timmy and make it a part of my family. It would be a bit of an adjustment at first, but my wife and kids would eventually come to accept little Timmy and we would live together in harmony, a happy family unit happily ever after.
I would give up Tim Hortons for THREE MONTHS, burn my top-three cards (not from the cup, but from my existing collection), and watch 2 hours of ANY TV SHOW, followed by taking a quiz about the movie to make sure I was paying proper attention to it.
Note to other posters: You are not trying to win the whole box of “The Cup”. You are, in fact, trying to win a single pack from one of these tins. The tins cost around $1500… D’UH! Good job reading the blog, before trying to get free stuff.
I would do a cross Canada run Forest Gump style!
For the cup I work for free for upper deck for a year. I would also let my son (young hockey card fan in the making) open it as my collection is his inheritance or I could trade him to upper deck for it 😉
I will write a kind letter to Gary Bettman, probably the hardest thing anyone could do.
I would take the money I use for rent …being on disability at the moment…and I’d buy a pack ..hoping to get a Winnipeg Jets card…I’ve missed my team for 15 years and now they are back …stuff like this …shall become the obsession again…and if I get kicked out of the apartment? So what..I’ll still have my Jets stuff and I’ll be able to say with a smile on my face…’Thanks Upper Deck…GO JETS GO!’
I would get a Upper Deck The Cup Logo Tattooed on the side of my head, and every time somebody asked about it I would tell them I got it because Upper Deck is AWESOME and gave me a free tin of it and tell them they need to go buy a pack RIGHT NOW!!!!
I would stand on the tallest mountain and shout, “The cup, the cup my kingdom for a cup!!!”
I am a die hard Blackhawks Fan i would go to a game in full out detroit gear it would be brutal but worth it for the Cup…. Go Hawks..
Living in Calgary, I cheer for the Flames, what I’d do for a Pack of 2010-2011 Cup; I’d wear and cheer for the Oilers for the whole season, trying not to hide my shame in my hometown and Flames….
I would travel to Toronto and open the tin outside of the Air Canada Center. It would be the closest the Maple Leafs have been to The Cup in 44 years.
I would write upper deck rules on my buddah belly in magic marker and ud can post the pic to their facebook wall
“What would you do for a pack of The Cup?”
I would wear a mankini too school!
thanks for the contest!
I would give away the cards to deserving people who can’t afford high-end cards such as the ones from the Cup, especially to younger collectors who are in it for the love of the hobby, not the money
I would take the Cup up to Michigan and open it with my new born nephew when I meet him for the first time. That is the only way I can imagine making that special moment even more special.
What would I do for a pack of The Cup?
I would never buy another competitor’s product ever again.
Whatever it takes! Since I live in the Dallas area, how about walking into Beckett Media or even Panini headquarters and announce “Now this is a high end product that collectors WANT!!!” Awesome product!
I would take the BIG HIT from the box, put it on Ebay, and donate ALL the proceeds to the Red Cross here to help, even though it may be a small amount, the victims of our first ever Tornado here and the recent Hurricane we also had. I would GLADLY give ALL of the proceeds to help my people in the community.
Dave
